Tucker Carlson (Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson) is an American TV personality born on 16th May 1969 in San Francisco, California, U.S. He hosts Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox and is also a conservative political commentator for Fox News.
Tucker attended La Jolla Country Day School briefly while living in La Jolla before relocating to East coast. He later attended St. George’s School, a boarding school in Middletown, Rhode Island. In 1992 he graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with a B.A. in history.
Tucker began his career working for Policy Review, a national conservative journal, as a fact-checker. He later joined the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette newspaper in Little Rock, Arkansas as a reporter before joining The Weekly Standard in 1995. Tucker has been a columnist for New York and Reader’s Digest. He has also written for Esquire, The Weekly Standard, The New Republic, The New York Times Magazine, and The Daily Beast.
In 2000 she joined CNN as a co-host of ‘The Spin Room’. In 2001 he was appointed as a co-host of ‘Crossfire’. Carlson represented political right whereas his co-host Paul Begala represented the left. He also hosted Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered, a weekly public affairs program on PBS. In January 2005 CNN announced that they were ending their relationship with Carlson and would cancel Crossfire. Carlson said he had already resigned from CNN and Crossfire.
“I resigned from Crossfire in April [2004], many months before Jon Stewart came on our show, because I didn’t like the partisanship, and I thought in some ways it was kind of a pointless conversation … each side coming out, you know, ‘Here’s my argument’, and no one listening to anyone else. [CNN] was a frustrating place to work.”
On 13th June 2005, Carlson premiered an evening show, ‘Tucker’, on 13th June 2005. During the 2006 Winter Olympics, he hosted a late afternoon weekday wrap-up for MSNBC during which he attempted to learn how to play various Olympic sports. During the 2006 Lebanon War between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon he reported live for Tucker from Haifa, Israel. He also hosted MSNBC Special Report: Mideast Crisis. On 10th March 2008, MSNBC announced the cancellation of the show due to poor ratings.

In May 2009 he joined Fox News as a contributor, he was a frequent guest panelist on Fox’s late-night satire show Red Eye w/Greg Gutfeld. He was made frequent appearances on the All-Star Panel segment of Special Report with Bret Baier as a host of Hannity in Sean Hannity ‘s absence, and produced a Fox News special titled ‘Fighting for Our Children’s Minds’.
In March 2013 he was announced as the co-host of the weekend editions of Fox & Friends replacing Dave Briggs who had left the show in January 2013. He officially joined Fox News in April as a co-host alongside Alisyn Camerota and Clayton Morris on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Tucker began hosting Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News on 14th November 2016. The show debuted as “the network’s most-watched telecast of the year in the time slot”. The show aired at 7 p.m. ET each weeknight until January 9, 2017, when Carlson’s show replaced Megyn Kelly at the 9 p.m. ET time slot after she left Fox News. On 19th April 2017, following the cancellation of ‘The O’Reilly Factor’, it was announced that Tucker Carlson Tonight would air at 8:00 p.m.

During the fall 2006 Dancing with the Stars reality show Carlson was a participant. He reportedly took four-hour-a-day ballroom dance classes. He said it was hard for him to remember the moves and when asked why he accepted the invitation he said “I’m not defending it as the smartest choice, but I think it’s the most interesting. I think if you sat back and tried to plan my career, you might not choose this. But my only criterion is the interest level. I want to lead an interesting life… I’m 37. I’ve got four kids. I have a steady job. I don’t do things that I’m not good at very often. I’m psyched to get to do that.” Carlton was the first contestant to be eliminated on September 13, 2006.
