Tony Wayne Stewart was born on May 20, 1971, is an American former professional stock car racing driver and is currently a Nascar team owner. He is a three times monster energy NASCAR cup series champion as a driver winning titles in 2002,2005 and 2011, In 2011 tony had an ownership interest in the team. He won again as an owner with Kevin Harvick title in 2014. Throughout his racing career, Stewart has won the racing title in Indy, midget, sprint, and USAC silver crown cars. He is the only driver in history to win a championship in both the Indy car and NASCAR.
In 2002 tony won the Winston Cup series champion,2005 he won the Nextel Cup series champion, 1997 he won the Indy racing league champion,1995 he won the USAC triple crown champion, in 1996 he was Indianapolis 500 rookie of the year. 2002 turkey night Grand Prix winner 2002, 2007 chili bowl winner Daytona 500 winner co-owner 2016 USAC hall of fame. 2006 IROC champion 2005, 2007 Brickyard 400 winner 2009 sprint all star race winner 2001, 2002, 2007 Budweiser shootout winner.
1999 he won the Winston Cup series rookie of the year, 1996 he won the Indianapolis rookie of the year, in 2001 he became the national midget auto racing hall of fame.in 2016 he won the USAC hall of fame. The hall of fame is located at Angell Park Speedway in sun prairie, Wisconsin and can be accessed during weekly Sunday races during the summer. The NASCAR hall of fame honor drivers who have shown exceptional skill at NASCAR driving all-time great crew chiefs and owners broadcaster to competition within the sanctioning body.
Tony Stewart got his first competitive go-kart in Westport, Indiana in 1979.in 1980 he won his first championship.he grew up racing to the go-kart and was successful very early winning a world karting association championship in 1987. Founded in 2003 by Stewart the principal purposes of the Tony Stewart foundation are to raise and donate funds to help care for chronically ill children, drivers injured in motorsports activities and to support other charitable organizations in the protection of various animal species. The Tony Stewart Foundation will raise and donate funds to charitable interests specifically those that support the aforementioned groups.
