Ted Williams Biography
At the age of fourteen, he got the inspiration of becoming a radio announcer on a field trip from a radio announcer, whom he had heard, looked nothing like he had imagined. He served three years in the United States Army, was honorably discharged, and attended school for voice acting.
In the 1980s, he first gained minor fame, after becoming a late-night radio disc jockey on WVKO-AM in Columbus, Ohio. After over ten years in radio, he was fired in 1994 due to his alcoholic and drug abuse behaviour. In January 2011, he received an extensive media attention when an interview filmed when he was homeless went viral after being posted to YouTube, and subsequently received numerous job offers.
For the first time in almost 20 years, he found himself steadily working. He co-authored A Golden Voice: Hard Work,have Faith, and Humility Brought Me from the Streets to Salvation with Bret Witter. He is the founder of the Ted Williams Project, a non-profit organization serving homeless shelters.
He announced his intention to run an independent candidacy for President of the United States in June 2015, but shortly, he dropped out of the race. In January 2016, he reembarked working in radio again in a show, The Golden Voice Show, aired on the station where he had previously worked. As of 2017, he has been a sportscaster for WWGH-FM in Marion, Ohio.
