Ted Harbert (Edward W. Harbert III) is an American broadcasting and television executive born on 15th June 1955 in New York, U.S. He is the former Chairman of NBC Broadcasting. He also served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Comcast Entertainment Group and the Chairman of ABC Entertainment.

He has a degree in Broadcasting and Film from the Boston University School of Communications.
Ted serves on the Executive Committee of Boston University ’s School of Communications. He also serves on the boards of Urban Arts Partnership, the Friends of the Saban Free Clinic, City Year LA, Paley Center for Media, Hollywood Radio and Television Society.
Ted aspired to have a career in television since he was young which he wrote in a 2005 article in Advertising Age he wrote, “I started poring over the ratings in Nielsen ‘Pocket Pieces’ when I was 9 years old. Two years later, I learned there were jobs at networks that picked shows and decided where they went on the schedule. From that moment, I wanted one of those jobs.”
While at Boston University he joined WTBU, Boston’s University’s college radio station where he worked along Howard Stern. After college, he returned to New York where he worked at ABC. In 1981 he relocated to Los Angeles rising from a feature film coordinator to president of ABC Entertainment in the 20 years he spent in ABC.
While at ABC he was associated with programs such as The Wonder Years, NYPD Blue, The Practice and My So Called Life. During his tenure, ABC moved to the top in primetime programs in 1995 for the first time in 17 years and led all the networks in profits for several years.
He was appointed as the president of E! Networks in 2004. In 2006 he was appointed as the president and CEO at the Comcast Entertainment Group, overseeing E!, Style Network, G4, Comcast International Media Group, and Comcast Entertainment Productions.
In 2011 he was appointed as the Chairman of NBC after it was acquired by Comcast. He oversaw the Advertising Sales for NBC, the NBC Owned Television Stations, Affiliate Relations, Network Research, Domestic Television Distribution, NBC Universal Digital Entertainment and Special Events.

He also served as a senior executive with advertising firm Kenyon & Eckhardt. He later moved into magazine publishing working at the Hearst Corp. before moving to the New York Times Magazine Group.
