Sway grew up in Oakland California, He started his early career of rapping he used to perform on Pier 39 shopping center in San Francisco. Sway after high school he teamed up with DJ King Tech and they used to perform at various San Francisco Bay Area clubs, the two released several independent albums, they also got a major record deal with Giant Records. They later got Job of co-hosting their own show on radio station KMEL after they released Concrete Jungle in 1990.
The year 1993 Sway hosted Wake Up show which featured music and interviews with well-known hip hop artists as well as up-and-coming ones. later 2000 he joined MTV network as a correspondent becoming a regular reporter for its music video shows and news specials, and also He appeared as a guest star on the MTV sketch comedy show Short Circuitz in 2007.
