Steven Caldwell

Former professional soccer player Steven Caldwell provides valuable insight to TSN Soccer broadcasts as an in-game and studio analyst.

The Stirling, Scotland native has appeared on TSN soccer broadcasts since 2015, regularly contributing to MLS on TSN with Kristian Jack and Luke Wileman, as well as on TSN’s coverage of the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FIFA World Cup. Caldwell is also set to appear alongside Luke Wileman and Kristian Jack during TSN’s coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia™.

Caldwell had a professional career for 15 years, playing with the top two leagues in English football. He began his career with Newcastle United F.C. during the 1998-99 season, and went on to play with Blackpool FC, Bradford City A.F.C., Leeds United, Sunderland A.F.C., Burnley F.C., Wigan Athletic F.C., and Birmingham City. In early 2013, Caldwell crossed the Atlantic to join Major League Soccer as a member of the Toronto Football Club. He was named captain for TFC on July 13, 2013 and wore the armband in 40 matches for the Club, remaining captain until the conclusion of the 2014 season.

Upon his retirement in 2015 from a 17-season professional career, Caldwell transitioned to TFC’s parent company, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. He served as Director of Corporate Development there until December 2017.

Caldwell earned 12 caps for the Scottish National Team during his career, following his debut on April 25, 2001 during a 1-1 draw away to Poland. He last represented Scotland on February 9, 2011 during the 2011 Nations Cup.
