Stephanie Klinzing is an American journalist and politician. Klinzing lives in Elk River, Sherburne County, Minnesota. She went to the University of Wisconsin–Superior, Anoka-Ramsey Community College, and Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, MN].
Kinzing was a journalist and worked for the Minneapolis Star, the Minneapolis Tribune and the Elk River Star News newspapers. She served in the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1993 and 1994 and was a Democrat. She also served as mayor of Elk River from 1998 to 2010 and on the Sherburne County (MN) Board of Commissioners from 1988 to 1992. Klinzing also serves on the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency Board of Directors, the Greater Minnesota Housing Fund Board of Directors, and the Minnesota Board on Aging.
She was the recipient of several state and national writing awards. She was also recognized for community and state service: the 2010 Three Rivers Foundation Leadership Award; “Outstanding Woman in Government” by the Minnesota Women of Today; named Minnesota State Legislator of the Year by Minnesota Concerned Citizens for Life and Allied Health Professionals; presented the “Melvin Jones Fellow” award by Lions (Club) International; and nominated and chosen to attend the National Emerging Leaders Conference in 1994. She married James Zaczkowski (June 18, 1977) in Webster, S.D., and has three children, Amy (Albert), James, and Angela.
