He now works at KVOA as an anchor. KVOA is an NBC affiliate in Tucson, Arizona. He debuted on WWF Wrestling Challenge replacing the former announcer, Craig DeGeorge on May 15th, 1988. People said that he was hired because he resembled new GLOW wmwcww Johnny C. and that DeGeorge was himself a GLOW founder David McLane’s look-alike.

In WWF, he was mainly involved in play-by-play announcements for matches that were aired on Prime Time Wrestling, and he also hosted the “Events Center” segment on WWF Superstars and WWF Wrestling Challenge. He also announced matches in WWF Mania and WWF All-American Wrestling.

He made his debut on pay-per-view in August 1988, which was when the first SummerSlam took place. He was an interviewer at this stage. His last major appearance was on the 1992 Survivor Series and also on the early episodes of the WWF Monday Night Raw with his last appearance on WWF TV as the host to the countdown show to WrestleMania IX.

He was replaced by Todd Pettengill as an interviewer and Event Center personality and by Gorilla Monsoon on WWF Mania and WWF All-American Wrestling for play by play announcements after his contract expired on April 1993 and decided not to renew it.

Mooney has also worked as an on-camera and producer for Major League Baseball Productions back in the early 1980s. This was before he was hired by WWF. He was also an anchorman for WWOR-TV based in Secaucus, New Jersey where he worked till 1997 and was replaced by Ernie Anastos. Still, in 1997, he moved to WBZ in Boston where he was an anchorman for less than a year.

Since 2000, Mooney worked for FOX Sports Arizona where he was focusing on University of Arizona football and basketball. In 2010, he presented FOX Sports coverage of Rugby around the world and also the Rugbyville USA camp that took place in Glendale, Colorado. In 2012, he started working as a weekend news anchor for News 4 Tucson working for KVOA TV.

He also hosts a podcast on MLW Radio Network, Prime Time with Sean Mooney- cohosted by former WWE Wrestler, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan for the first 18 seasons. On July 13, 2018, it was announced Mooney will commentate the ALL IN broadcast with Don Callis, Ian Riccaboni, Excalibur, Alicia Atout, Justin Roberts, and Bobby Cruise.
