Sara Gore was born in May 1976 in Queensland, New York to parents – George and Gail Gore. She has two older sisters. Her parents are now divorced after 36 years of marriage. She attended Queensbury High School and graduated in 1994. She went on to attend Marymount Manhattan School and majored in Communications with a minor in Business/Theatre.

Sara Gore’s First Husband
Gore is now married to Matthew Miele, a director, and screenwriter. Matthew Miele is a director and writer, known for Always at The Carlyle (2018), Harry Benson: Shoot First (2016) and Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s (2013). They have three children together. Griffin, Sawyer, and Fiona who are aged 7, 5 and 2 respectively (ages as of 2019). Sara’s had a cat since before her first child was born, named Mugs.

Like many other new parents in Manhattan, WNBC anchor Gore and director/screenwriter Matthew Miele are carefully balancing two active careers with family time. During the day, Gore is busy hosting Open House and New York Live while Miele works from home, finishing his latest documentary, Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s which will be screened at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week and will be released in theaters this April.
However, on an occasional evening, the couple likes to preserve the traditional date night, often with a trip to the movies or dinner at a new restaurant. Always on the menu? “I think that any romantic date should include chocolate in some form or another,” Gore says.
Here, the duo sits down at the romantic uptown restaurant Sant Ambroeus for a date night with cocktails—a Bellini made with Prosecco and peach purée for her, and a Negroni comprised of gin and Campari for him—and a shared slice of chocolate mousse cake. “As a couple, it works because she is in television and I am in film,” says Miele. “We understand each other’s language.”

Sara started her career with a passion for food by working as a personal chef, running her own catering company.
Later, she worked as a line cook for the internationally famed chef and restaurateur, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. She left her job as a line cook to do an off-Broadway play and during that time she met a hosting agent who started submitting her for food-related hosting jobs.
She also did a pilot for Food Network that never got off the ground and then a cooking series for General Mills.
Her breakthrough was when she got a job with a startup lifestyle company called Code TV, which later changed its name to LXTV. They launched Open House and 1st Look and then got bought by NBC.
Sara has now been working for NBC for well over a decade and still hosts Open House while co-hosting NewYork Live.
