Rinaldo is a Canadian journalist from Toronto, Ontario currently working as the weekend anchor for CTV National News Weekend anchor since May 1973. Additionally, she is often sent to the field where she reports stories for Canada’s most-watched documentary series, W5.

She brings the most important news stories to the Canadians as she takes Canadians through the major news events making headlines at home and around the world.

The year 1980 saw her being promoted to News Anchor of CANADA AM. There, she was able to earn distinction for becoming the first woman in Canadian history to anchor a daily network newscast. Prior to that, in 1977, she was appointed Reporter-at-Large for CANADA AM. This is a position that saw her regularly traveling everywhere from Vancouver to Cape Breton to the Middle East. She joined CANADA AM in 1976 as a story producer specializing in federal and provincial politics. Later on, in 2018, she marked 45 years with CTV.

She is a proud graduate of York University where she earned an Honours B.A. in Fine Arts in 1973. She was privileged to earn a job with the CTV network, one week after her graduation. During her first year there, she moved from Junior Secretary to Production Secretary to Production Manager, and then became a researcher for W5.

Later on, in 1975, she went to New York City with the W5 team to produce The Bankruptcy of New York, which won a journalism award. Sandie is fluent in English.

In addition, she earned the 2017 RTDNA Dave Rogers National Award for Best Long Feature for W5’s “In Their Footsteps.” She is also a three-time recipient of the Trina McQueen Award for Best Television News Information Program, having been recognized for W5’s “Lifetime Penalty/The Ringmaster” in 2017 and “Leave it to Bieber”/ “Nightmare on Quebec Street” in 2011.

For her special presentation, she was honored by the Durham Regional Police for W5’s “Predator’s Playground” in 2014. Among her additional awards includes the 2005 Canadian Veterinary Award for the feature Never Give Up. She also received the 2001 Canadian Association of Journalism Award award for Best Overall Newscast, which she shared with Lloyd Robertson.
