Garfield was previously the Vice President of Strategic Operations and Research at MSNBC, where she was in charge of a group of seven operational areas, including Audience Research, Program Scheduling, Documentary Production, Business Development, and Television.

MSNBC.com, MSNBC’s online television presence, was conceived and launched by her in 2003. Garfield began her NBC career in 1995 with NBC Cable, where she worked for ten years. She rose through the ranks of NBC International, CNBC, MSNBC, and other domestic and international institutions, eventually becoming MSNBC’s first Vice President of Research in 1997.

She attended Stuyvesant High School and graduated from Colgate University with a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Garfield is still alive and well in New York City.
