Richard Deitsch is an American journalist currently working as a Sports Host for Sportsnet 590 since June of 2018. In addition, he also works as a Writer/Reporter for The Athletic since March of 2018.

Deitsch co-hosts “Writers Bloc” alongside fellow co-hosts, Jeff Blair and Stephen Brunt. In addition, he partnered with Donovan Bennett on the Sportsnet podcast series “Sports On Pause.”

Deitsch spent 20 years as a writer and editor at Sports Illustrated, where his areas of expertise included media, tennis, women’s athletics, and the Olympics. He studied issues facing journalists around the world as a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan during the 2008-09 academic year. Prior to his two decades in New York City, Deitsch worked as a journalist and radio presenter in Buffalo, covering the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and collegiate sports.

Richard is a proud graduate of the University at Buffalo where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications and Political Science. In addition, he later joined Columbia’s Graduate School of Journalism where he obtained a Masters of Science Degree in Journalism and served as an adjunct professor for eight years.
