Rand Morrison Biography
Rand Morrison is the executive producer of “CBS News Sunday Morning” since September 1999 and a winner of 10 Emmy Awards, two George Foster Peabody Awards, and a DuPont award.
He graduated from Ohio State University with a BA in English and from Northwestern University with a master’s degree in journalism.
He began his career with the Associated Press and United Press International from 1977-1982. Later in 1982, he joined CBS News as a writer for “Nightwatch.”

In September 1999, Rand was named executive producer of CBS News Sunday Morning.
He is a winner of 10 Emmy Awards, two George Foster Peabody Awards and a duPont award. Rand had previously served as an executive producer for CBS News Productions. Among projects he produced, was the critically acclaimed 13-part Century of Country series on the history of country music.
Prior to that, he he served in senior management positions on several CBS News magazines, including Public Eye With Bryant Gumbel (1997-98), 48 Hours (1995-1997) and Eye to Eye (1993-1995).
Rand was a producer for 48 Hours (1988-1993), for the CBS Evening News weekend editions and for the CBS Morning News. He began his CBS News career as a writer for the overnight broadcast Nightwatch.
Prior to joining CBS, Rand a writer for the Associated Press and United Press International news services.
