Mishal was born in the United Kingdom but spent his childhood in the United Arab Emirates. Her family is from Pakistan, and she has close ties there; in fact, her first job as a journalist was with a newspaper there when she was 18 years old.
She went on to study law at Cambridge University and then at the European University Institute in Florence for a Master’s degree in International and Comparative Law.
