Mike Brooks is a former CNN news correspondent. He has also featured regularly on HLN’s Nancy Grace’s show, and Prime News. He gave significant coverage of the Anna Nicole Smith paternity controversy, as well as the Virginia Tech massacre. Brooks could be seen on Tru TV’s In Session (formerly Court TV), where he provided commentary as their law-enforcement analyst.

Brooks is a retired police detective, employed for 26 years by the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. He was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation Joint Terrorism Task Force, and also served as an instructor for several public safety courses His work on the FBI Evidence Response and Rapid Deployment Team included assignments to the Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, the United States Embassy bombing in Kenya, and the crash of TWA Flight 800.
Brooks was let go from Turner Broadcasting in October 2014.

Mike Brooks is a radio talk show host with Cumulus Media, WYAY, The New Talk 106.7 in Atlanta, GA.. Prior to that he served as the on-air law enforcement and public safety analyst for CNN, HLN and IN SESSION on Tru TV, all part of Turner Broadcasting. He is a freelance journalist/analyst and security and law enforcement consultant for police and fire departments, government agencies and the Homeland Security Policy Institute at George Washington University.

In June 2001 Brooks joined CNN as a terrorism and law enforcement analyst and was part of the CNN teams that covered the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. Brooks was part of the CNN Investigation Team that won a 1st place National Headliner Award for Continuing Coverage-Attack on America & Their Aftermath. Later, Brooks was a National Correspondent for CNN. He also served as a substitute anchor and regular law enforcement analyst for HLN’s Nancy Grace, Prime News and The Glenn Beck Show.
Brooks also has extensive radio broadcast experience including acting as guest host at AM 1500 KSTP in Minneapolis, MN. He has been a guest contributor on 790 The Zone, 92.9 The Game, Rock 100.5 and has been a regular on The Sully Show on Talk Radio 640 WGST, all here in Atlanta.

Before Hillary Clinton’s Benghazi testimony, he accused CNN’s political correspondent of “making excuses for her” before the hearing, and then called the network the “Clinton News Network.”
Today, after writing that the CNBC moderators Betty Quick, John Harwood and Carl Quintanilla are “total HACKS” and that they “SUCK as moderators,” he acknowledged they were making CNN look good.
