Since joining CNBC in April 2014, Tirrell has covered the development of novel medicines for Alzheimer’s, cancer, and rare diseases, as well as public health events including Ebola, Zika, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Her work has also included a number of trials aimed at holding the pharmaceutical industry accountable for the opioid crisis, market failures that have resulted in life-threatening medicine shortages, and the ongoing debate over prescription costs.

Tirrell worked for Bloomberg News before joining CNBC, where she covered biotechnology and contributed to Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Businessweek.
