Blashaw is an American journalist from Orange County, Calif., currently working as a host for Professional Grade on HGTV.

Additionally, he is a host for DIY Network where he hosts Money Hunters, Deconstruction, and Project Xtreme.

Being a licensed contractor, he is everything one wants in a versatile handyman and then some. Once his home improvement company had the slogan “One Call Fixes It All.” Matt made a point of always delivering on that promise. Blashaw grew up in a lumberyard, therefore, explaining how a guy this young gets to be this good.

Matt spent his teenage years in a lumberyard where he helped his father work. Later on, he joined Chapman University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies.

Matt then moved to a variety of jobs in the entertainment and construction industries. His work with the technical services group at Disney taught him about electrical installation and show effects. Nowadays, away from work with the DIY Network, Blashaw works as a Realtor and develops and builds homes in Orange County.

He was born in California to his parents Lawrence Blashaw and Deborah Klee Blashaw. His father was an Engineer in addition to working as an export packer and owning a lumberyard. His mother on the other hand actively participated in community work. Among the times she has spent in the Theatre, she worked in the production of the Emperor’s New Clothes at the Gallery Theatre in Anaheim.

His grandfather, Lawrence Blashaw Sr. was a fighter in the Battle of Bulge in World War 2. He was married to his wife, Nita whom he met in England. However, the grandfather passed in 2017.

After their divorce, Matt was privileged to meet his second wife, Lindsay Archer. Lindsay is a landscape architect and an expert in container gardening from Kansas City. This explains how the two met. The two met on their first date with the help of their contractor and although their relationship endured quite long, they ended up engaged. Later in 2017, the couple tied knots making them man and wife.
