Prior to that, Johnson was a general assignment reporter and anchor for WFTX in Fort Myers, Florida. Before joining WFTX, he began his on-air reporting career in Macon Georgia.

His reputation in covering a wide range of issues and delivering thorough reports on breaking news as a morning reporter precedes him. He’s covered multiple hurricanes – including Maria and Irma, the 2016 presidential election as the candidates’ campaigns crisscrossed Florida, a mass shooting inside teenage nightclub “Club Blu” and multiple murder cases that received national attention.

He is a proud graduate of West Virginia University and an avid sports fan excited to live and work in a city that cherishes its sports teams. Johnson’s journalism career began his senior year of college as a sports writer. He went on to cover high school and professional sports for WUSA-TV (CBS) in his hometown of Washington, D.C.
