Lucy Flores Family
Lucy was born in Glendale, California, but her family moved to Northeast Las Vegas shortly after she was born. She was one of thirteen children and only one brother graduated high school, and all of her sisters became pregnant in their teens.
Her mother left her family when she was nine, and Lucy’s father worked multiple jobs so Lucy had to care for her younger siblings.
Right after her mother left, Lucy’s school performance suffered, and she looked to local gang members for role models. She would later become involved with the local gangs and spent months in juvenile detention after stealing a car.
Her parole officer, Leslie Camp, became an important role model for Flores and she helped her turn her life around. Her difficult early life informs her political views, and she advocates job retraining and educational opportunities to help other people who came from difficult backgrounds.
Lucy Flores Education
Flores dropped out of Rancho High School but passed the GED test and after working as a receptionist and office manager, she started attending community college. She later transferred to and graduated from the University of Southern California, and earned a J.D. degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2010.
While at UNLV, she pushed the school to create a course dedicated to investigating potential wrongful convictions.
Lucy Flores Joe Biden
Flores has accused Joe Bidden, the 47th Vice President of the United States, of unwanted touching.
Flores wrote about her “awkward” experience with Biden, saying he grabbed her shoulders from behind, sniffed her hair and then planted a kiss on the back of her head before a campaign event. On Friday, March 29, 2019, a spokesman for Biden said that the former vice president and staff who were present do not “recall what she describes.”
“I’m not suggesting that Biden broke any laws, ” Flores wrote, “but the transgressions that society deems minor (or doesn’t even see as transgressions) often feel considerable to the person on the receiving end. That imbalance of power and attention is the whole point — and the whole problem.”
Flores described the encounter between her and Biden as they were readying for a rally alongside actress Eva Longoria. She wrote;
“I felt him get closer to me from behind. He leaned further in and inhaled my hair. I was mortified. I thought to myself, “I didn’t wash my hair today and the vice-president of the United States is smelling it….Why is the vice-president of the United States smelling my hair?” He proceeded to plant a big slow kiss on the back of my head. My brain couldn’t process what was happening. I was embarrassed. I was shocked. I was confused. There is a Spanish saying, “tragame tierra,” it means, “earth, swallow me whole.” I couldn’t move and I couldn’t say anything. I wanted nothing more than to get Biden away from me. My name was called and I was never happier to get on stage in front of an audience. ”
Flores said she remained quiet for years, “fearing my experience would be dismissed… But hearing Biden’s potential candidacy for president discussed without much talk about his troubling past as it relates to women became too much to keep bottled up any longer.”
She also wrote that she “spoke to a male friend who is also a political operative in Biden’s orbit,” and that he made her question her actions and recollection of the event, and reminded her about Biden’s “significant resources,” suggesting that her credibility would be attacked if she came forward.
In a statement by Bill Russo, Biden’s spokesman, he said that the former r vice president “was pleased” to support Flores and hold the event for her. “Neither then, nor in the years since, did he or the staff with him at the time have an inkling that Ms. Flores had been at any time uncomfortable, nor do they recall what she describes.
“But Vice President Biden believes that Ms. Flores has every right to share her own recollection and reflections, and that it is a change for better in our society that she has the opportunity to do so,” Russo continued. “He respects Ms. Flores as a strong and independent voice in our politics and wishes her only the best.”
This came just days after Biden spoke at the “Biden Courage Awards,” an event for It’s On Us, an organization started under the Obama White House to combat campus sexual assault.

Lucy Flores Emily’s List
EMILY’s List endorsed Flores during her state assembly campaigns in 2010 and 2012, and again in 2014, when she sought the spot as Nevada’s lieutenant governor. The group calling her an “inspiring community leader” who “has not shied away from sharing her personal experiences growing up in order to highlight the real impact that legislation can have on the lives of Nevadans.”
However, when she sought the Democratic nomination for Nevada’s 4th congressional district in 2016, EMILY’s List opted instead to endorse one of Flores’ primary opponents, philanthropist and multi-millionaire Susie Lee, who was not vocal about reproductive rights in her campaign, but whose personal wealth and network of rich friends gave her a leg up on fundraising, according to HuffPost.
