Lisa Thomas-Laury is a retired American presenter from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Lisa started at WPVI-TV in Philadelphia on 20th February 1978 as a noon co-anchor and reporter. In 1983 she was promoted to the 5 p.m newscast co-anchoring till 2003 with the Marc Howard. She was born on 19th July 1954.

Lisa Thomas-Laury Career
Lisa started at WPVI-TV as a noon anchor and reporter. In 1983 she was promoted to the 5 p.m newscast and co-anchored until 2003. She did the monthly Fast Forward series a show for teenagers.
She was theorized to be the inspiration for the character Maria from Guess Who board game. She denied the rumor but admitted to have been posing as a model for the illustrator of the popular game. She claimed the connection was partly coincidental.
She was one of the few African-American to anchor in the Philadelphia market. In 2002 she began to experience health problems. She experienced tinging at her feet and she assumed that it was from too much power walking. It was later known her problem was misdiagnosed she finally ended up at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota where she got the right diagnosis.
She was suffering from a syndrome called POEMS Syndrome. She went on medical leave on almost a year and later on returned on September 11th 2003. She was scheduled to host the Thanksgiving Day parade but missed as her health conditions returned and she ahd to go back on medical leave.
Jim Gardner announced that Lisa would be permanently leaving her duties as a news anchor but would come to return later on. She then came to came on the station during the 11:00 p.m newscast on 22nd November 2006. She announced that she would return to the station in the next few weeks. She appeared the next day during the broadcast of Philadelphia’s annual Thanksgiving parade.
She returned to Action News with the report on the opening of Oprah Winfrey’s school for girls in South Africa.
