LaFlamme is a Canadian journalist from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada currently working as a Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor of CTV NATIONAL NEWS WITH LISA LAFLAMME since 2011.
There, she leads the newscast where she has cemented her role as the face of news in Canada.
LaFlamme provides Canadians an up-close look at the greatest stories emerging around the country and around the world, never far from the heart of the narrative. In May 2018, LaFlamme came to Windsor to host CTV News’ live coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Royal Wedding.
Later on, in 2017, she covered the devastating floods in Texas and Florida, as well as leading CTV News’ special coverage of the Battle of Vimy Ridge’s 100th anniversary in northern France. CTV News, led by LaFlamme, broadcast live coverage of Donald Trump’s inauguration from Washington, D.C. in January 2017. In addition, it reported from Havana on Fidel Castro’s death in November 2016.

Prior to taking over as Anchor in 2011, LaFlamme spent more than a decade on the road as CTV News’ National Affairs Correspondent. There, she covered everything from wars to elections to natural catastrophes in some of the world’s most perilous regions.
She was in Rome to cover Pope John Paul II’s death and has reported from Sri Lanka on the devastation caused by the Tsunami that struck South Asia. In addition, she was in New Orleans to cover Hurricane Katrina’s impact on the city; and she has traveled to Haiti several times to cover the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake and the country’s political turmoil.
LaFlamme is a trailblazer for women in Canadian news broadcasting, having covered some of the most important stories of the day. Since 1997, LaFlamme has covered every Canadian federal election, and in 2011, he anchored CTV’s nonstop coverage of William and Kate’s Royal Wedding, live from Buckingham Palace.
She was a key member of CTV’s national broadcast team in Vancouver in 2010 as Co-Host of OLYMPIC DAYTIME and commanded CTV NATIONAL NEWS from London for the 2012 Olympic Games, having covered every Olympics since 2008.
LaFlamme has been at the center of some of the most captivating tales of a generation, from the G20 riots in Toronto in 2010 to the environmental crisis in the Gulf of Mexico, and from the World Cup in South Africa to the Chilean miners’ miracle.
She has covered the aftermath of 9/11 from every viewpoint, from New York to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Guantanamo Bay. LaFlamme has written extensively about the Canadian mission in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the Afghan people’s humanitarian dilemma.
She began her broadcasting career in 1989 at CTV Kitchener (formerly known as CKCO) in her birthplace of Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario.
LaFlamme is also a volunteer with Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, which works to improve education and educational opportunities for Afghan women and their families. Additionally, she is an honorary co-chair of the annual JHR Night for Rights event and championed a program with CTV News to find eligible and deserving staff journalists to participate in JHR missions across the world.
