Brancher is an American journalist who worked as a presenter for BBC World television since 1991 when the channel was being launched.

Her career as a journalist began in 1982 where she worked as a trainee newspaper reporter in north London. In the year 1988, she became an assistant producer in the news department of London Weekend Television. This was before she moved to Sky News at its launch in March 1989.

Brancher moved from assigning stories to reporting on them, and within months she was presenting Sky News’ overnight news bulletins after a season as assistant news editor.

Throughout her career as a journalist, she has presented many news specials on various subjects covering almost every continent. In addition, she has presented the BBC’s Asia Today program and BBC News 24.

Away from work, she is a member of Bafta, and enjoys theatre and film among other hobbies which includes writing, collecting antiques, and restoring her Georgian house to its former glory.
