Laine Hardy Biography
Laine Hardy is American Pop singer and the winner of American Idol season 17, from Louisiana, born on September 12, 2000.
Laine had competed in season 16 of American Idol but did not make it. He later returned to bring a friend Ashton Gill for auditions.
As fate would have it, Laine ended up performing a song for the judges too and they gave him a ticket to advance Hollywood.
This, however, was not part of Laine’s plan but a while after a lot of convincing from the three judges, he accepted the ticket and his season 17 journey on American Idol, began there.

Laine is the son of Cindy Lou Hardy and Barry Hardy. His mother Cindy, is the one who actually encouraged him to take auditions of American Idol Season 16.
Laine also has an older brother named Kyle Hardy. Laine’s family is very supportive of his music career.

Season 16
On Season 16, Laine auditioned in New Orleans and sang “Hurricane” by Band of Heathens and all the judges voted “yes”, sending him to the next round.
He was shown in a montage of contestants who survived the Groups of Ten. He was later shown in a group called “The Soul 4’s” along with Kaitlann Runnells, Mia Desaris and Juliana Madrid singing “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber and he and Kaitlann advanced.
She was later shown in the final Solo Round singing “Fire Away” by Chris Stapleton. Afterward, he was placed in the same holding room as Ada Vox, Mara Justine, Thaddeus Johnson, Noah Davis, Ron Bultongez, Samothias and Jonny Brenns.
Everyone in their room advanced. During the Showcase Round, he sang “The Ballad of Curtis Loew” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. At the Final Judgment, he was called up with Garrett Jacobs and the judges told him at the was eliminated and that Garrett had advanced.
Laine Hardy Season 17
During season 17, Laine auditioned in Coeur d’Alene and he sang “The Weight” by The Band. All three judges voted “yes”, sending him to the next round.
Season 17 Hollywood Week
Hollywood Week aired over two episodes at the Orpheum Theater on March 24th and 25th.
Laine was shown in the same Group of Ten. He sang “She Talks to Angels” by The Black Crowes and advanced and was shown in a group called “Diamond Dixies”. In the group, he was along with Laci Kaye Booth, Katie Belle and Colby Swift singing “Grenade” by Bruno Mars.
While performing, he forgot some of the lyrics but advanced nevertheless, alongside everyone in his group except Colby.
He was then placed in the first deliberation room, along with Uché, Johanna Jones, Laci Kaye Booth, Alejandro Aranda, Nick Townsend, Walker Burroughs, Margie Mays, Shayy, Drake McCain, Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon, Ryan Hammond, Kai the Singer, Evelyn Cormier, and Madison Vandenburg. Everyone in the room advanced.
Hawaii Round
During Hawaii round, Laine sang “Come Together” by The Beatles. Later, he was called up alongside Tyler Mitchell for the Final Judgment. The judges revealed that Laine had advanced but Tyler did not.
Top 20
Laine sang “Bring It on Home to Me” by Sam Cooke. He also sang “The Weight” by The Band in a duet with Elle King. Later it was revealed that he had advanced to top 14.
Top 14
During the Top 14 competitions, Laine sang “That’s All Right” by Elvis Presley during the Performance Show. He also sang “Hurricane” by Band of Heathens during the Results Show.
Laine was placed in the Top 7 in voting for that week, making him a Top 10 finalist.
Top 10
On Monday, April 15th American Idol delivered its top 10 results from 8 – 10 p.m. ET live, on the ABC network.
Laine was amongst those contestants who had it through via the American Votes.
Top 8
Laine went on to proceed to the Top 8. On April 28th, The top 8 contestants from American Idol 2019 performed a live, coast-to-coast broadcast, for America’s votes.
For this performance, Laine sang “Fat Bottomed Girls”.
Top 3
