He began his career forecasting for the National Weather Service in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Slifka has also worked in Eau Claire and Madison, Wisconsin. When Kelly was ready for warmer weather, he moved to Austin, Texas for 16 years where he worked at several different stations in the capital city. He likes spending his time outdoors. Kelly enjoys beach volleyball often and rides his bicycle everywhere. As an avid biker, Kelly rode his bicycle from Austin, Texas to his hometown in Minnesota during the summer of 2013.
