Kelley Moody is an American journalist currently serving as a Morning Meteorologist for KCCI. She loves waking up viewers with what they need to know to get through the day safely and comfortably. Moody, the California native, is new to the Midwest. She received her Bachelor of the Fine Arts in Television & Broadcast Journalism with minors in Peace Studies and Sociology from Chapman University. She also has a Broadcast & Operational Meteorology Certification from Mississippi State University and is in pursuit of the National Weather Association Seal.

Before the frigid winters of Lowa, Kelley has faced the blazing heat of Palm Springs, California, working as a meteorologist, reporter, and anchor at KESQ News Channel 3. While there, she’s covered earthquakes, wildfires, and monsoonal thunderstorms, she’s also worked from the red carpet, interviewing celebrities live at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. She has also helped lead an annual live telethon benefitting the desert’s regional food bank. Moody is also a three-time Emmy nominated journalist for her special reports.

Kelley was also formerly a freelance associate producer with Dateline NBC and has reported for various cable stations. She was awarded first place for a documentary profile by SCAN NATOA in 2016 for her work with HCTV22.

When not working, she likes to be on stage. She has grown up in the theatre community, winning multiple local and regional awards for performances over the years. Kelley also loves working in the nonprofit community. She has worked closely with a variety of animal-focused organizations, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Moody spends most of her time snuggling with her cat and wishes to own an elephant sanctuary someday.
