Katie Graduated from Phi Beta Kappa, She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology from Florida State University in 2007. After completing graduated she joined Penn State University for her Master of Science degree in Meteorology and focused her thesis on flooding. While at PSU she honed her forecasting skills and was one of the meteorologists on the state-wide show, Weather World.

She joined the June 2014 Severe Weather Team 2. Katie worked at WINK in southwest Florida and at WSIL in southern Illinois before joining WSB-TV. Katie was serious about the environment.
