Josh Trank Biography
Josh Trank is an American film director, screenwriter, and editor. He is known for directing the 2012 science fiction film Chronicle and the 2015 superhero film Fantastic Four. His full names are Joshua Benjamin Trank.
Josh Trank Career
He attributes his YouTube video “Stabbing at Leia’s 22nd Birthday”, which was a significant breakthrough point for his career. The video became very popular overnight after its release. Following this, he worked on 2007 The Kill Point as a writer, director, and editor. In 2009, he edited the independent film Big Fan. He was also credited as a co-producer and had a small acting role in the film.
In 2011, he directed his first feature film, Chronicle. The film was released on February 3, 2012, by 20th Century Fox and has grossed over $125 million worldwide. Chronicle was received positively by critics, earning an 85% score on Rotten Tomatoes. With the Chronicle released, he became the youngest director to open a film at number one at the US box office. After the release of Chronicle, Trank was linked to Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, Warner Bros.’s The Red Star, and Shadow of the Colossus.
In 2015 he directed the reboot of Fantastic Four, which was released in August 2015. The movie was critically panned. He became the subject of controversy when he posted and quickly deleted a message on Twitter prior to the release of the film before, apparently blaming the poor reviews on changes imposed by the studio, claiming to have originally cut a completely different movie which would have been much better. Dissatisfied with the final film, actor Toby Kebbell, who worked with Trank on the film, supported Trank’s claim.
In June 2014, it was announced that he would direct a stand-alone Star Wars film, but he left the project less than a year later. Several outlets stated that he was dismissed from the project due to issues during production of Fantastic Four, but he indicated this was a personal decision. He told the Los Angeles Times that the reason he left the film was that he wanted to do something original and smaller-scale, due to the amount of online scrutiny he received during the filming of Fantastic Four.
Trank wrote and directed his original Al Capone biopic, Fonzo, with Tom Hardy set to star.

Josh Trank New
Josh Tranks slams the Fantastic Four movie in a tweet which sees him “gladly” want to follow a Twitter account dedicated to erasing the film from existence.
Six days ago saw Josh Trank comment about a crowd-funding campaign asking to digitally erase the rat from the end of The Departed.
“The rat was the filmmaker’s choice. It lives forever. Make your own movie. Sincerely, All Filmmakers [Everywhere],” Trank tweeted.
The tweet was then followed up by another Twitter user asking, “Joshua please follow my gofundme @EraseF4nt4stic.”
In a deleted tweet, Josh Trank replied, “Gladly.”
Trank directed the 2015 Fantastic Four movie that bombed at the box office along with critics and fans alike. The movie grossed less than $168 million worldwide and has a 27% Rotten Tomatoes score, with only 45% of the audience stating they liked it. Reportedly, there were problems with Trank’s behavior surrounding the filming of the movie in addition to Fox Studios execs changing a lot about the flick with the end result being nothing like Trank intended.
It has also been said Trank’s behavior is the reason he was fired from a Star Wars spinoff movie, said to be for Boba Fett, while at the same time it has also been rumored the Boba Fett flick didn’t come to be because of creative differences between Trank and Disney, which also included that X-Men and Fantastic Four writer and producer, Simon Kinberg, wrote the Boba Fett script, with Trank not getting along with Kinberg.
The good news for Josh Trank is that he essentially gets his wish granted as the Fantastic Four will be rebooted with new actors when the Disney-Fox deal goes through in the next couple of months and the characters come to Marvel Studios and the MCU.
The 2015 Fantastic Four movie starred Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell.
