WLS-Ch. 7 general assignment reporter John Garcia listed his four-bedroom, 4,200-square-foot house in Elmhurst on May 5 for $899,000.
A Chicago-area native, Garcia, 53, has been with ABC 7 since 1994. Garcia and his then-wife, Christine, paid $845,000 in 2007 for the two-story house. The couple briefly listed the house in late 2011 and early 2012 for $839,500. After their divorce, Garcia took full ownership of the home.
Now, he has decided to move on.
“I have strong ties to Elmhurst and love the community and the many friends I’ve made there. The house is very special to me as well,” Garcia said. “It’s been a terrific home and community for my kids. We are feeling the pull to move closer to family members, and regretfully that likely means moving a little farther away from Elmhurst.”
Built in 2006, Garcia’s center-entry Georgian Colonial-style house has a brick and stone exterior, 41/2 baths, hardwood floors, Andersen windows, wainscoting, traded and coffered ceilings, crown moldings, 9-foot ceilings on both floors, a private office with skylights on the third floor, fireplaces in the master bedroom and family room, a kitchen with granite countertops and cherry cabinets, and a three-car garage.
