Jessica Formoso is an American bilingual reporter for Fox 5 News in New York. She’s reported on a variety of large events throughout her career. In May 2013, Jessica received the Best TV – General News award from the Garden State Journalists. She is also a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and has received recognition for her series about the American Dream.

Coming to her educational background, She began her college career in 2006 when she enrolled at Hofstra University, a private school located in Hempstead, New York on Long Island. Quite active in extracurriculars during her time at Hofstra, she joined the university’s student news organization Hofstra News Now.
She worked as both an anchor and reporter for the student-run network, and spent much of her free time producing weekly newscasts, writing news stories, and organizing reports. Jessica graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. While there, she also earned a minor in economics.

During her last year of college, Jessica got a job as a production assistant with News 12 Long Island, a local station based in Woodbury. She assisted reporter, anchors, and field producers, and also edited scripts for accuracy and formatting. After graduation, she continued work for News 12, this time at their Spanish channel, News 12 En Español. She worked as a bilingual producer, where she translated news stories from English to Spanish, produced web content & maintained the channel’s social media accounts.
After doing freelance work for a while, Formoso took a position as a reporter at News 12 New Jersey. The move was brief, and she soon found herself back in New York. In April of 2013, Formoso became a full-time reporter for News 12 the Bronx, where she reported in both Spanish and English. She continued much of the same work she did as a freelancer, this time with the station helping her out on her segments. She left News 12 in August 2015, and began working for FOX 5 that same month. She covers stories in the tri-state area and has her own series called Our American Dream, where she shares the stories of immigrants who have accomplished the American Dream.
