#mondaymotivation to work on this 👇🏼…😝 . #Repost @smarthernews ・・・ What an incredible opportunity to talk about the journey to @smarthernews @spurleadership ~ I love talking about journalism…why solid journalism matters and I love sharing our story…the story YOU’VE help create. 👊🏻 . Here’s a snippet of what I shared about leadership lessons learned – it’s not something I’ve mastered but rather something I am working on. And a lesson that truly came into focus this week. . You can’t be a martyr to your mission. . If you spend too much time with your nose to the grindstone, you don’t spend enough time looking up to truly see the people you aim to serve, what they need and where you’re going. . It feels foreign at first. There’s so much to do. It’s scary to stop. Especially when you’re use to the hustle…but I now know I can better serve as a journalist and boss of @smarthernews the more I enjoy and experience life outside of journalism. I think that’s true of any role we have – whether parenthood or professional. When you disconnect from the routine …you create a little time to dream…and that often leads to better results for all. I think we call it “taking a break?” 🧐😛 I don’t have a solution for how to achieve this…only how important it is. We all are working so hard on so many levels and technology enables to keep going 24-7. I wish I had a rule to neatly follow – a formula – but I often know only one speed: working hard. I do know what happens when I don’t do this – I’m the prime example this week: getting sick, unable to do #coffeetalk because I haven’t truly slept in 18 months 😝. That’s not helpful to anyone. . My commitment to YOU has to be greater than a blind acceleration towards the mission of building a company to serve you – it has to be about the joy of creating and living all parts of life to its fullest because that’s what will benefit US all. . You’ve given me this incredible opportunity – to build a network that allows us all to see news differently – and to living a life as a journalist differently than I ever imagined. I am so grateful. 💗 . #seenewsdifferently #hustle💯 #hustlequotes #enterpreneur #mompreneur #leadership
