JC went to the University of Maine, where she had graduated with a B.A in Broadcast Journalism in 1994 and had also been graduated from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology program.

After being graduated from the University, she began to search for the place where she can learn and experience in order to pursue her career in the journalism field. She got her first break in the radio station WZON-AM located in Bangor, Maine as a News Director.

J.C. Monahan started her journalism career with WZON in Bangor, Maine as News Director. She then moved to the south and began working for WPXT-TV in Portland, Maine as a weekend forecaster and entertainment reporter.

On June 20, 2017, it was reported that J.C. Monahan would be joining NBC Boston as a news anchor. (WCVB-TV/FILE). Monahan’s departure from the ABC affiliate was announced in February, has landed at NBC.

NBC Boston announced Tuesday that Monahan will anchor the station’s afternoon and evening weekday newscasts. She’ll be on air starting in mid-July.

Monahan launched her career at WZON-TV in Bangor, Maine when she was named news director for that station. Her first on-air television job was also in Bangor at NBC affiliate WLBZ.

Monahan is a native of Newton. She earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maine.

She also graduated from Mississippi State University’s Broadcast Meteorology program. WCVB had announced that Monahan would be leaving the station, where she worked as co-anchor of the nightly news magazine “Chronicle,” at the end of her contract.
