Gillian Deacon Biography

Deacon is an award-winning Canadian broadcaster and bestselling author. She is heard weekdays across southern Ontario on CBC Radio One as host of Here and Now, Toronto’s afternoon drive show. Gill is also a regular guest host on Television audiences know Gill from her many years as a host of programs including CBC’s The Gill Deacon Show, Discovery Channel’s@discovery.ca with co-host Jay Ingram, CBC TV’s Code Green, the Quebec arts program Citybeat, and as weekly arts correspondent for CBC News Morning. Gill also hosted for Discovery Science Channel in the U.S.

Deacon is the author of the national bestsellers There’s Lead in Your Lipstick, Naked Imperfection and Green for Life. Before establishing her career in journalism, Gill taught elementary school children with learning disabilities, and worked as a bicycle tour guide in Europe and New Zealand.

Gill is a musician and sings in a Toronto band called The Circumstantialists. Her interests are painting and photography, and she is currently at work on a novel. Gill lives in Toronto with her husband Grant Gordon and their three sons.
