Drew Remenda Biography

Drew Remenda is a Canadian former hockey coach, radio broadcaster, and television hockey analyst. He most recently was a pre/post-game analyst for the San Jose Shark. He joined the NHL on Sportsnet broadcast team as the game analyst for the Edmonton Oilers in August 2014. Prior to signing on with Sportsnet, Remenda spent seven seasons as the television colour analyst for the San Jose Sharks broadcasts on Comcast Sportsnet California.

With over 24 years of experience in the NHL and broadcasting, Remenda began his coaching career in 1988 when he served as the assistant coach for the University of Calgary for two seasons and contributed to Canada’s National Team and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. In 1991, Remenda joined the San Jose Sharks organization as an assistant coach and would go on to spend four seasons with the team.

After spending a season as the associate coach of the Kansas City Blades from 1995-96, he turned his focus to broadcasting when he was offered the position of radio colour commentator for the Sharks on alongside renowned San Jose play-by-play announcer Dan Rusanowsky.

In 1999, Remenda joined the Sharks’ television broadcast team as a colour commentator and soon thereafter began his work as the host of “SharkByte”, a television show which offered a behind-the-scenes look at the Sharks organization. After seven years with the Sharks, Drew headed north and signed on with CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada as an analyst for the 2006-07 season. In addition to his work in television, Remenda also hosted “The Drew Remenda Show” on News Talk 650 CKOM in his hometown of Saskatoon.

Following the 2006-07 season with CBC, he returned to San Jose to resume his work as the colour analyst for Sharks television broadcasts. Spending a total of 14 seasons with the San Jose Sharks, Remenda is a five-time Northern California Emmy Award winner.
