Dave Roberts born David Thomas Boreanaz is a retired American television broadcaster. He uses the stage name Dave Thomas in Buffalo, New York and Dave Roberts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the weatherman for WPVI-TV in Philadelphia from 1983 until his retirement in 2009. He was born on 14th February 1936 in Buffalo, New York.

Roberts attended Syracuse University as a Speech and Dramatic Arts student, graduating with dual majors in English and Communications.

He began his career as a radio broadcaster at WAER-FM in Syracuse, New York in 1954. He later moved to WOLF-AM. His television career began at WBUF-TV in 1956. Two years later he served as the U.S Army news director for the Caribbean Forces Radio-TV Network.
1961 he joined WKBW-TV as the station’s weatherman and as the host of the children`s show Rocketship 7 and also hosted Dialling for Dollars. At that time use of surnames was at that time he adopted the name David Thomas as his stage name.
He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild he had roles in Blow Out, All My Children, Doogie Howser, M.D and Thirtysomething. His son became famous for playing the role of the vampire Angel in both Buffy the Vampire and as well as FBI Agent Seeley Booth on Bones.
1978 He joined WPVI-TV in Philadelphia as a co-host for the morning television show AM Philadelphia. He changed his name Dave Roberts to avoid confusion with Lisa homas-Laury. After the death of Jim O Brien on September 25th 1983 he began reporting the weather for the WPVIs Action News.
2000 he was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame and selected the person of the year.The following year he was inducted into the Buffalo, New York Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
November 18th 2009 at the age of 73he announced his retirement from WPVI-TV. His last appearance was on December 1th 2009 it was a newscast alongside Jim Gardner. Upon his retirement, he was honored by the Philadelphia City Council for his broadcasting and charity work. In 2011 he and his son David were jointly awarded the Gold Medal by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters for their successful careers in broadcasting and acting respectively.
