Cody Murphy Biography
Cody Murphy is an American meteorologist. Meteorologist Murphy is the newest member of the 4Warn Weather Team,where he joined in March 2018. Cody comes from WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois. During Cody’s sophomore year of college he had the idea of chasing a severe storm around his hometown. After the storm passed, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in Meteorology.
When Cody is away from work he enjoys getting back to his Tennessee roots doing anything that involves being outside. He also enjoys tinkering with sports cars when he has a chance and occasionally going to the nearest track. He’s also very interested in all things space and attended a few rocket launches from Cape Canaveral.

During Cody’s sophomore year of college he had the idea of chasing a severe storm around his hometown. After the storm passed, he decided he wanted to pursue a career in Meteorology.Before Florida, he began his career in Peoria, IL, covering severe summer storms and heavy winter snowfall. While working in Illinois, he earned a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for coverage of the November 2013 tornado that tore through the area.
He’s also received two Best Weathercaster Awards from the Florida Associated Press.He recently worked for WZVN-TV in Fort Myers, FL.During his time there he covered record flooding, tornadoes and most recently Hurricane Irma, which made landfall about 30 miles south of his home.

Several waves of rain will traverse the Mid State today. A strong-severe storm or two are possible over southeastern Middle Tennessee. A strong-severe storm or two could develop over southeastern Middle Tennessee. Small hail and brief damaging wind gusts will be possible there with any stronger cells.FUTURECAST shows the progression of the rain today, into tonight, and through tomorrow. Notice how after this evening, showers become more patchy in nature. Early on Sunday some rain will remain. By late afternoon a little sunshine will develop in many communities. Highs both days will be in the low-mid 70s. Today, some neighborhoods will even hold in the 60s.
Once we get to Monday, expect even more sunshine and even warmer air. Highs are likely to be in the 80s all of this upcoming work week. Spotty storms return Wednesday. Scattered strong-severe storms will be possible Thursday. A few storms with areas of rain will try to hold on through Friday as well.
