Christopher Jackson born as Christopher Neal Jackson is an American actor, singer, musician, and composer best known for portraying George Washington in the Broadway play Hamilton. He’s also appeared in productions of Bronx Bombers and Memphis. In 2016, he began playing Chunk Palmer on the CBS courtroom drama Bull.

While a student there he played in plays and was motivated by one of his high school teachers, Lynn Steveson, who also led the debate team of the school of which Jackson was a member, to pursue a career as an actor. She also placed him in a production of The Crucible by Arthur Miller. He credits Pilots Basketball Coach Larry Baldwin and Pastor Larry Potts of Mighty Rivers Regional Worship Center as other significant mentors during his growing years in Cairo.

Jackson began his career in 1995, starring Hair Fame composer Galt MacDermot in the Off-Broadway musical Time and the Wind. He made his Broadway debut as an ensemble member in 1997 and as an understudy for Simba in The Lion King’s Original Broadway Cast. He later took over Simba’s role in 2000.
He then worked in the theater scenes in Chicago and Minneapolis –Saint Paul, notably earning a 2004 BATC Award nomination for Best Actor for Beggar’s Holiday and winning a 2006 Joseph Jefferson Award (Chicago’s equivalent to the Tony Awards) for Comfortable Shoes.
He returned to New York in 2007 to join the cast as Benny of the Off-Broadway musical In the Heights. The cast won the 2007 Outstanding Ensemble Performance Drama Desk Award. He continued the show when it moved to Broadway in 2008.
In 2009, he was tapped to write music for The Electric Company’s revived children’s television program. He returned to Broadway as Delray in Memphis in 2012 and replaced Everett Bradley in the Broadway musical After Midnight in 2013 as “Diga Diga Doo.”
He appeared as Derek Jeter and Bobby Sturges in the off-broadway play Bronx Bombers as the Primary Stages of the Eric Simonson in 2013. When he moved to Broadway in 2014, he remained with the production. That same year, in the short-lived Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, which was based on Tupac’s life, he portrayed Vertus.
He originated President George Washington’s role in Broadway’s musical Hamilton in 2015. He was nominated for a Tony Award and closed his run on November 13, 2016. Starting with the 2016-2017 season, he plays Chunk Palmer in the Bull CBS court drama.
Jackson’s film and television work include Moana, Tracers, The Good Wife, Person of Interest, A Gifted Man, and Nurse Jackie. He is also a member of the Freestyle Love Supreme hip-hop group. He was nominated for three Emmy Awards for composing music and television lyrics; in 2011 he won the “Outstanding Original Song” Emmy Award for his lyrics on “What I Am,” which he co-wrote with Bill Sherman for Sesame Street.
