Gothner is an American journalist currently serving as a reporter and anchor for KCCI News since January 2018. He joined the news team as a nightside general assignment reporter. He is proud to call Des Moines home which is also his third stop in his Journalism career. Before joining KCCI, he was a reporter and anchor at WISC, the CBS affiliate in Madison, Wisconsin. While in Madison, Chris was the lead reporter on a weekend news team that won a first-place award from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association for spot news coverage of a fatal interstate shooting. He has also worked as a reporter and anchor at KOMU, the NBC affiliate in Columbia, Missouri.

Gothner is originally from Nokomis, Florida, a small town on the Gulf Coast. He left the Sunshine State to attend the University of Missouri, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism. After nearly seven years up north, he’s yet to get used to the cold. Chris loves eating good food, watching movies, and reading. You’ll often catch him rooting for the Chicago Cubs, and his alma mater, the Missouri Tigers.
