She rose through the ranks in Springfield, eventually becoming an anchor of the 4, 6, and 11 p.m. broadcasts, while also working to keep a close relationship with the viewers of Western Mass. During her time as an anchor, Cherise reported on the rebuilding of Springfield following the tornado, the historic decision to legalize casino gaming in Massachusetts and subsequent development of MGM Springfield, the manhunt following the Boston Marathon bombing and an explosion in downtown Springfield among many other stories important to the community.
She was also first to break the story that a gun linked to former Patriots player Aaron Hernandez was found in a car during a traffic stop in Springfield. After anchoring through coverage of a deadly hospital standoff and breaking details while on the anchor desk through sources, Cherise and the team working that night were awarded best spot-news coverage from the Massachusetts Broadcasters Association.
