Brittany Rainey Career
Rainey after her graduation she went to Missoula, Montana for her first job, working as the weekend meteorologist. Having spent her entire life in Florida, the blizzards, 40-degrees-below-zero wind chills, and copious amounts of snow were quite the adjustment.
She spent the next two years in the plains forecasting every manner of weather from blizzards to tornados. She started as the weekend meteorologist then moved into the weekday evening position in Hastings, Nebraska.
From there she moved to Huntington, West Virginia as the weekend meteorologist. She covered weather for the entire state, putting together separate forecasts for four different regions each weekend.
She moved back to Tornado Alley and landed in Tulsa, Oklahoma for three years. She spent most of the spring seasons in the weather center with her team covering tornados for hours at a time. During quiet weather she got to be a part of some incredible events; including driving the lead car in the Mid America Ford Shelby Nationals on cruise night, playing a walk-on role during Shakespeare in the Park, and helping out with the Philbrook Museum’s Festival of Trees.
