Brent Bambury Biography

Bambury is a Canadian journalist from Saint John, New Brunswick currently working as a co-host for Test the Nation with Wendy Mesley where he has worked since 2008.

He has always had a strong connection to the radio, and he began his career at CBC while still a teenager, working in Saint John, Halifax, and Montreal. Bambury began working as a correspondent for CBC Radio 2’s all-night underground music show Brave New Waves in 1984 and was named the show’s permanent host a year later. He spent the rest of the 1980s and the first half of the 1990s staying up late to share his passion for obscure and new music.

He began his career as an entertainment reporter for CBC Television’s Midday in the early 1990s, later moving on to co-host Midday with Tina Srebotnjak from 1995 to 2000. With their hugely popular Radio One show, Off the Cuff, he helped Kai Black and David Carroll re-invent the game show genre in 2000.

He relocated to Ottawa in 2002 to anchor CBC’s top-rated afternoon show All in a Day, as well as help, create and host the national music quiz show GrooveShinny, which he even made up. In 2008, he returned to television as co-host of Test the Nation with Wendy Mesley, bringing massive audiences to CBC-TV and revitalizing the live TV broadcast concept.

Bambury assisted in the creation of the Saturday morning playhouse GO! during this period of compulsive creativity. For eight years, GO! was transmitted live across the country, pushing the boundaries of live radio and turning listeners of all ages into kids.

Brent, who is obsessed with creating new content, is back with DAY 6, a radio show that combines journalism, current events, comedy, and opinion.

Radio, according to Bambury, should be dynamic, lively, exciting, outrageous, and thoughtful all at once.
