Pourasad is an American journalist working as an editorial researcher, digital archivist, and trainer with the Research, Archives & Data Strategy (RAD) Department. Pourasad first joined NPR in 2011 as an intern in what was then NPR’s Broadcast Library. She holds a master’s degree in library and information sciences from Simmons University.

As a trainer, Pourasad coordinates and leads training sessions for her newsroom colleagues, and ensures new employees throughout the organization know how to best use research resources. She identifies training needs across the organization and helps develop courses based on those needs. In addition, Pourasad supports the work of NPR journalists by performing in-depth research and fact-checking, backgrounding individuals, and providing access to resources. As a digital archivist, she ensures that RAD’s metadata in Artemis, NPR’s internal database of audio, transcripts, and web content, is accurate and accessible to her colleagues.
