Haskins is an American journalist working as a meteorologist for KBJR-TV. He went to Solon Springs High School and went on to college at Northland College in nearby Ashland, WI. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in May 2017. During his time at Northland College, he was a part of the Weather Club and took part in the WxChallenge, which is a contest where those who participated forecast for different cities across the U.S.; he took first place forecasting for Phoenix, AZ his sophomore year out of all the freshman and sophomores in the U.S. that took part in the challenge.

Austin interned at KBJR-TV in Duluth, MN the last three months of his senior year of college. After he graduated, he became the fill-in meteorologist at KBJR in August of 2017. He then became the weekend meteorologist in October 2017 and was promoted to weekday morning meteorologist for CBS 3 Duluth in July 2018, which he held until July 2020. He officially became a First Alert Meteorologist at Dakota News Now in January 2021.

Austin has been interested in the weather ever since he was a little kid. During his time in Duluth, Austin says the toughest part about forecasting was Lake Superior, as that had a major influence on the weather.
