She spent most of her childhood in Wayland, Massachusetts. She was born of the parents, Dr. George H. Damon and Joumana. Her family moved to Morocco when she was 6 years old and three years later, they moved to Istanbul, Turkey. At age 16, she graduated from Robert College though she skipped grade six.
She moved to USA to attend Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She graduated in 1999 with a double major in French and biology and a minor in international affairs. Before she became a reporter, she was working for a high end New York based Turkish textile company.
