She attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 2003, with a double degree in broadcast journalism and political science. She currently anchors CNN International’s CNN Today with colleague Michael Holmes. She is American and Korean. She began her career at KMIR-TV in Palm Springs.
She joined the NBC-owned WTVJ in 2005 in Miami, Florida, where she worked as a news anchor and a general assignment reporter. She transferred her roles as a news anchor and a general assignment reporter to the Fox-owned WFLD in July 2012 in Chicago. In December 2013, she moved from WFLD to Atlanta, Georgia, with her husband where she joined CNN International. As of November 2014, she co-anchors CNN Today together with Michael Holmes.

In 2015, she anchored live coverage of the Israeli legislative elections and the re-election of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the death of Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah, and the death of Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew. She also anchored both CNN and CNN International’s breaking news coverage of 2014, Ottawa shootings at the Canadian Parliament, and the first hours of the Lindt Café terror siege in Sydney, Australia.
She has also anchored the death of Ariel Sharon, the historic double canonization of John XXIII and John Paul II, the South Korea ferry disaster, the search for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, and the referendum in Crimea, which led to Russia’s annexation of the Ukrainian region. She also lives on the air as security forces stormed Kyiv’s Independence Square, which led to the crisis in Ukraine.
