Cranford is an American journalist from New Orleans working with WWL-TV since 2012 as a meteorologist where she specializes in forecasting for the New Orleans area and in the tropics.

She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) awarded by the American Meteorological Society.

Alexandra is a proud graduate of Mississippi State University where she obtained a Master of Science in applied meteorology. Cranford is also a graduate of Louisiana State University where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in political communication.

She is additionally an award-winning journalist having been awarded Best Weathercast from the Press Club of New Orleans in 2016, and she won Best Weathercast in Louisiana from the Associated Press of Louisiana in 2015. Cranford has also received awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and Women in Media.

Born in New Orleans, she learned early enough that weather has a tremendous effect on people’s lives. She grew up in Slidell on the Northshore and rode out almost every hurricane in her house with her family.

Additionally, she has worked as a NASA Science and Engineering Apprentice in the Naval Research Laboratory’s Office of Oceanography. Previously, she worked in Monroe and Shreveport, Louisiana.

She got to decide about her meteorologist career in college. Due to her love for English and reading, she joined mass communication courses and LSU’s campus broadcast news station. After trying out University newscasts on Meteorology, she knew she had found a perfect blend of science and English.

Away from work, she spends a lot of time reading. Additionally, she loves riding horses, baking, and going for long walks in almost all types of weather.
