Caprariello is an American journalist from Raleigh, North Carolina working with KXAN as a lead education reporter.

Asides from being born in Raleigh, he has also lived in Princeton, New Jersey, Madison, Wisconsin, Phoenix, Arizona, and most recently Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Caprariello is a proud graduate of Arizona State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the W.P. Carey School of Business in 2013. Alex later joined ASU’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication where she obtained a master’s degree in Journalism in 2016.

His career as a journalist began at KNWA/KFTA in Fayetteville, Arkansas. There, he was the weekend anchor and senior reporter at the NBC/Fox affiliate located in Northwest Arkansas.

He also led a number of investigations and in-depth reports. Some of his notable stories include an examination into allegations of bribery in a tightly contested mayoral race, an investigation that uncovered repeated abuse of patients in a treatment center for deviant children, and an analysis of the state’s struggle to launch medical marijuana industry.

Among his special stories includes “Pricing Parenthood: The Cost of In Vitro Fertilization.” This is a story about the financial burdens infertile families experience when undergoing last-resort procedures, and was a finalist for best television feature by the Society of Professional Journalists Diamond Journalism Awards.

Alex is a huge sports fan and was a reporter during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Among his favorite moments from the games was interviewing NBA superstars and U.S. gold medalists Carmelo Anthony, Kyrie Irving, and DeMar DeRozan.

Among his favorite moments includes when he hiked 40 miles into the Havasupai Reservation at the base of the Grand Canyon to camp at the summit of a 500-foot waterfall.
