Giannakopoulos is an American journalist from Chicago working with the WKBT Newsroom.

He is a proud graduate of the University of Iowa where he obtained a major in Journalism and a minor in Business Administration in 2018.

Previously, he was a reporter and technical director for the student-run Daily Iowan TV Station. Additionally, he was a reporter for City Channel 4, a local station in Iowa City. Asides from his news career, he was a play-by-play commentator for The Big Ten Student Network, and student-run station 89.7 KRUI.

He is now happy to start his professional career in La Crosse, and can’t wait to explore everything the city has to offer.

Away from work, he loves playing jazz guitar and is an avid fan of professional wrestling. His favorite movie includes Up in the Air while his favorite song includes Take Five, Dave Brubeck. His favorite book includes To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee. HAlec’s dream is to interview Androniki Paspalis. He also loves jazz and pretends to be good at playing guitar when no one’s watching. Among his favorite foods includes Mashed Potatoes.
